With the introduction of communication technologies such as HART®, PROFIBUS® and FOUNDATION fieldbus™ a little more than ten years ago, the barriers between field instrumentation and the systems level began to disappear. The instruments became more intelligent and an integral part of the automation architecture. Having recognised this development at an early stage, Endress+Hauser has been actively involved in standardisation committees and user organisations from the introduction of fieldbus technology in order to ensure that our customers do not lose touch with new trends.
