Endress+Hauser has announced the launch of the range of surge arresters specifically designed for use with process instrumentation. This new product family offers a further component in improving the availability of the production plant and is suitable for deployment in flow, level, pressure, temperature, analysis and monitoring applications.
With a worldwide move toward improving production plant efficiency with the use of sophisticated electronics, there is also focus on preventing faults and total failures in electronics. These faults and failures occur as a result of over voltage surges caused by both lightening storms and highly inductive switch sequences within the plant.
The HAW range of surge arresters from Endress+Hauser ensures the safety and continued functioning of various elements of process instrumentation. The HAW561/HAW561K protection units reduce over voltage impulses on the power supply to transmitters and monitoring components down to a safe level. The HAW560/HAW562/HAW565 units are designed to protect 20mA circuits, Profibus PA/DP and RS485 communication circuits. The HAW560Z/HAW562Z are certified for use in intrinsically safe 20mA circuits and Profibus PA signal cables.
The range offers benefits such as security against external surges, modular construction, high function security, simple installation, and failure display. It is also available with innovative field housing in pressure die cast aluminium with mounting plate, giving optimum front end field installation of the protection units. A further benefit is cost, as the outlay for over voltage protection is less than the expense incurred by stoppages. |
